"Beyond the Conversation"
Practical Mentoring That Meets Students Where They Are
Not every student responds best to sitting in a classroom and being told what to do.
Some students need movement.
Some need conversation.
Some need a trusted adult who will listen without judgement.
Some need help learning how to manage anger, pressure, frustration, confidence, respect and decision making.
Healthy Teens mentoring programs are built around connection, structure and practical life skills.
We help students feel seen, heard and supported while also challenging them to take greater ownership of their choices, behaviour and future.

From Conversation to Meaningful Support
Schools are supporting young people through more pressure than ever.
Many students are dealing with low confidence, emotional outbursts, poor decision making, disengagement, peer issues, family stress, lack of direction or difficulty managing behaviour.
Healthy Teens provides a practical mentoring option that works alongside the school’s wellbeing, leadership and student support teams.
Our role is not to replace counselling, psychology or crisis support.
Our role is to provide positive adult connection, structured mentoring, practical reflection, movement based engagement and support that helps students develop healthier habits, stronger thinking and better choices.
“Through our ongoing partnership with Healthy Teens, including the mentoring provided to our school based personal trainer, we have seen firsthand the organisation’s commitment to building student confidence, fostering positive relationships, and creating supportive environments where young people feel motivated to participate and grow. The mentoring support has strengthened our capacity to deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging physical activity opportunities for students”

HPE Faculty Leader & Sports Coordinator. Lighthouse CC
What Students Learn
Healthy Teens mentoring gives students a practical and supportive space to reflect, move, speak, listen and grow. Through the program, students build greater confidence, stronger emotional control, better communication skills and a deeper respect for themselves and others. They learn to make more thoughtful decisions, respond to pressure in healthier ways, understand the consequences of their choices and take greater responsibility for their actions. The program also helps students develop resilience, take pride in their effort and progress, strengthen their connection with school and gain a clearer sense of direction. The goal is not perfection. It is steady progress, honest reflection and helping young people take meaningful steps towards becoming stronger, calmer and more responsible.

CREST EDUCATION
How the Mentoring Program Works
1. School Conversation
We begin with a conversation to understand your school’s needs, the students you are hoping to support and the outcomes you would like to see.
This helps us recommend the right structure for your school.
2. Student Selection
The school identifies students who may benefit from mentoring.
This may include students needing confidence, emotional regulation, positive role modelling, behaviour support, leadership development or stronger school engagement.
3. Program Structure
We agree on the program format, session length, group size, timetable and focus areas.
This may be one on one mentoring, small group mentoring, movement based mentoring or a term based program.
4. Mentoring Sessions
Students participate in structured sessions that may include conversation, reflection, goal setting, practical activities, boxing, fitness, emotional regulation strategies and accountability.
5. Feedback and Recommendations
Where appropriate, Healthy Teens can provide feedback to the school about student engagement, participation, growth areas and recommended next steps.
Example 8 Week Mentoring Program
Schools can use a structured 8 week program as a starting point.
Week 1: Connection, Trust and Student Goals
Students build rapport with the mentor, discuss expectations and identify personal goals.
Week 2: Identity, Choices and Responsibility
Students explore who they are becoming, the choices they are making and how responsibility affects their future.
Week 3: Emotional Control and Managing Pressure
Students learn practical ways to notice frustration, calm their body and respond better under pressure.
Week 4: Respect, Boundaries and Communication
Students discuss respect for self, respect for others, healthy boundaries and better communication.
Week 5: Resilience and Responding to Setbacks
Students learn how to handle mistakes, disappointment, conflict and challenges without giving up.
Week 6: Confidence, Effort and Discipline
Students explore how confidence grows through effort, consistency and doing hard things.
Week 7: Leadership and Positive Influence
Students reflect on the influence they have on others and how they can lead through their choices.
Week 8: Reflection, Growth and Next Steps
Students review their progress, identify what has changed and set goals for what comes next.
Student Outcomes Schools May See
Every student is different, but mentoring can help students make progress in areas that matter at school and in life.
Schools may see growth in:
Confidence
Respect
Emotional control
Self discipline
Motivation
Goal setting
Behaviour choices
Communication
Leadership
Attendance and engagement
Resilience
Positive peer interactions
Willingness to ask for help
Connection with trusted adults
The aim is to help students build skills they can carry beyond the mentoring session.
Why Movement Based Mentoring Works
Some students open up more when they are moving.
Fitness, boxing and practical challenges can help students build trust, release energy, manage emotions and engage in conversations that may not happen in a traditional setting.
Movement gives students a positive outlet.
Mentoring gives them space to reflect.
Together, they create a powerful environment for growth.
Through movement based mentoring, students can practise discipline, self control, effort, teamwork, listening, respect and resilience in real time.
What Schools Receive
Depending on the program structure, your school may receive:
A clear mentoring program outline
Session themes
Student attendance tracking
Goal setting activities
Student reflection tasks
Practical mentoring activities
Staff communication
Student progress observations
End of program feedback
Recommendations for next steps
Optional pre and post student survey
This helps schools see the program as more than a weekly session.
It becomes a structured student support program with clear goals, themes and feedback.
Start With a Pilot Program
Your school does not need to commit to a large program straight away.
Many schools begin with a small pilot group.
This may include a selected year level, a wellbeing group, a leadership group, a group of disengaged students or students identified by the school as needing extra support.
A pilot program allows the school to review:
Student engagement
Program suitability
Session structure
Behaviour changes
Student feedback
Staff feedback
Future program options
At the end of the pilot, Healthy Teens can provide feedback and recommendations to help your school decide whether to continue, adjust or expand the program.
Parent and Student Voice
When students feel supported, families often notice the difference.
Healthy Teens mentoring can help students feel more confident, more motivated and more willing to take ownership of their choices.
“The impact on my child’s character and personal growth has been remarkable. The emphasis on values such as discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship has instilled a strong sense of integrity and respect in my child” S. Crowsworth Parent
Supporting Wellbeing Teams
Healthy Teens works alongside the school, not separate from it.
We understand that wellbeing teams, year level leaders and teachers are often supporting students with complex needs.
Our mentoring programs can provide an additional practical support option for students who need connection, structure and encouragement.
We can communicate with relevant staff, follow school expectations and help reinforce the values and behaviours the school is already trying to build.
“Healthy Teens has proven to be a practical, scalable, and high-impact Tier 2 intervention, particularly effective in engaging boys and supporting both behaviour and wellbeing outcomes. A key strength of the program is its ability to create a safe and respectful space where students feel comfortable reflecting on their actions and experiences.
Based on both observed impact and collected data, I strongly support the continued delivery and expansion of the Healthy Teens program within schools. Pre- and post-program survey results indicate a high level of success, and the content has consistently been relevant, engaging, and purposeful for students”
– Melissa Bannister. Wellbeing Team Leader Cranbourne SC.
